The One Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka

I read this book in college at the insistence of my father, Gary Figgins. It is an excellent treatise on closed-loop, companion cropping. Fukuoka was a revolutionary in Japan in the 1960’s and his teachings continue to inspire farmers like me. Thanks Dad!

Omnivores Dilemma by Michael Pollan

I first learned of this book from Arden Andersen. This is the single most important book to understanding the atrocities of our current food system (and particularly the beef system). It will change the way you buy, eat and live.

Food Inc.

The cliff notes video version of Omnivores dilemma. Very nicely produced documentary film on our food system.

Dr. Arden Andersen

Dr. Andersen is the man I credit most with revolutionizing the way we farm our vineyards, and subsequently our cattle pasture. A physician, agronomist, and all around genious, this interview gives you a glimpse of his thinking.

Why Grass-Fed is Best

A great little read as to the benefits of grass-fed meat, eggs and dairy products.

The Grass-Fed Movement - TIME Magazine

A great summary on the grass fed movement in TIME magazine.

Mr. Rick Trumbull

Last, but not least, I would like to offer a personal thank you to one of my most valuable personal resources, Mr. Rick Trumbull, our soils consultant for all of our veinyards. He pushed us toward biological farming and continues to play a key role in our farming. Thanks, Rick!
